Taking a comparative historical approach, this class examines how an individual's interactions with sociocultural and physical environments influence the experiences of health and illness. Topics include symbolic healing, biomedicine as a cultural system, disease and international development, and the global politics of AIDS and other pandemics. Dual listed with ANTH 4350.
