Activities will vary and include but are not limited to participation in health screenings, providing programs at senior housing, working with the Wyoming Center on Aging, participating in CHAP activities, etc. Prerequisites: upper division status [junior or senior] or current enrollment in a professional program in the College of Health Sciences and permission of instructor.

Students also consider the broader implications of becoming a reflective practitioner, working within a healthcare team and the benefits of interprofessional collaboration. It examines major themes and policies in global health and analyzes health problems and varying responses to them in different parts of the world.     In this course, students will learn about the current state of rural mental health, unique challenges in working in mental health fields in rural areas, ethical and professional considerations for rural mental health, and research-driven recommendations for working on improving mental health with specific populations in rural communities.     Fundamental principles and practices of of public health systems in developing countries will be presented including epidemiology, etiology, integrated management, will be presented within the context of globalization, climate change, and socio-economic, political and cultural constraints. Principles will be illustrated by case studies of major health issues in an interdisciplinary, holistic manner. Cross listed with MOLB 4520.
