  This course is designed to cover the second-year sequence in Latin within one semester, and thus prepares students for upper division classes the following semester. Students review syntactical principles, and they acquire rapid reading ability through the study of Vergil's Aeneid. Students survey the main interpretative issues surrounding Vergil's Aeneid. In addition, students develop an understanding and appreciation of the formal structure of the Latin language and also the ability to scan and read Latin hexameters out loud.
