    In this course students will focus on techniques and theory necessary for the evaluation and treatment of the critical care patient, including arterial blood gas analysis and hemodynamic measurements as they relate to the physiologic effects of advanced mechanical ventilation in the respiratory compromised patient.     This course provides supervised practicum clinical experience in Respiratory Therapy working directly with patients to practice and refine skills learned in the previous classroom and laboratory settings. Students will rotate to clinical sites to practice entry level skills in all scopes of respiratory therapy under the direct supervision of licensed respiratory therapists. Students will be expected to demonstrate the identified skills associated with a fully functional respiratory therapist and pass a competency-based exam at the end of the semester.     This is a comprehensive summation of the Respiratory Therapy Program. Students prepare for successful completion of the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) examination for the Registered Respiratory Therapist credential. Students will develop and refine the analytical and test-taking skills necessary for passing the NBRC credentialing examinations. Students will be required to pass a comprehensive exam based on the NBRC matrix for current board testing. Students will present comprehensive case studies and participate in group activities that will integrate skills, knowledge and professionalism in respiratory therapy practice.?Students articulate skills learned throughout college in application of their portfolio to both job applications and general education practices. Students create a post-graduation plan and apply financial planning and transfer or career-readiness tasks in a way?that supports their personal goals.     This course provides a theoretical and descriptive framework in the study of language development. In this course students explore the fundamental stages and processes of language development. Students study the components of the language system (phonology, morphology, semantics, syntax, and pragmatics) as well as the development of these components. The primary focus is on typical patterns of development; however, the development of language in special populations: speakers of a variety of dialects, second-language learners, and individuals with a variety of disabilities and impairments such as autism, SLI (specific language disorder), and hearing impairment will also be explored.
