Students are introduced to public health nursing, the core functions and essential services of public health, and community health nursing competencies. The course includes population-focused nursing, epidemiology, community assessment, and the application of the nursing process to the community as client. Students assess their communities and research health problems. Prerequisites: admission into the nursing major component of the program; NURS 3630 or concurrent enrollment and current RN license.
