The purpose of this course is to investigate and understand the physical relations that control the poro-elastic mechanisms in the subsurface. Rock physics describes a reservoir rock by physical properties such as porosity, rigidity, compressibility; properties that will affect how seismic waves physically travel through the rocks. Prerequisite: Graduate standing.
