First phase of the professional teacher education sequence. Course is designed to acquaint students with philosophical, social, and political influences on American Education; to develop an understanding of the qualities of reflective teaching; to connect learning theories to teaching strategies; and to develop an understanding of individual differences, diversity, and multiculturalism. Practicum experiences included. Prerequisites: sophomore standing, EDST 2450 (grade C or better), 2.5 cumulative GPA. (Offered each semester)
