This course is designed to prepare students to write songs in popular music styles and teach others to do so in several contexts. The primary aim of the course is to develop and refine the ability of class members to express themselves through songwriting. Songs are one of the most powerful means for personal expression, incorporating aspects of culture, individuality, poetry, and music. Prerequisites: COM1 and COM2, MUSC 2400 or permission of instructor.
