This course is the fourth in a series of four classes, required for the State Supervised Apprenticeship program. This course provides students with an understanding of basic Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning. These principles are the foundation for all higher-level HVAC courses. Topics include the following: water treatment methods and equipment; heating and cooling system design; construction drawings; air balancing; building management systems; indoor air quality; energy conservation; start up and shut down of various HVAC systems; alternative heating and cooling systems; and leadership and supervisory skills. This course emphasizes safe work procedures and provides students with a foundation for more technical areas of study.
