This course will cover the application of health behavior change skills in advanced nursing practice with a focus on chronic illness. Topics include the development of skills for understanding adherence and self-management, supporting client/patient self-management goals, and creating education/treatment plans. Topics also include the use of general and specific health behavior change techniques for integration into advanced nursing practice. Students will participate in on-campus intensive practice of behavior change skills with standardized patient actors. Prerequisites: NURS 5805 and 5810.
