Builds on the knowledge students develop in ?Introduction to Criminal Justice? and ?Criminal Law? through a comprehensive study of criminal courts processes. Examines the organization and operation of criminal courts and their role in the larger criminal justice system. Coverage includes the role of criminal courts in American society, analysis of the stages involved in the adjudication and disposition of criminal cases, and the roles, decisions and interactions between judges, defense attorneys and prosecutors as well as witnesses, victims and jurors and how these affect the criminal law and criminal justice policy. Prerequisites: CRMJ 2120, 2210, and junior standing.
